After last week and venturing into the world of fat vs sugar I wanted to carry on but look at things a little differently.
You ate lots of fat burning foods, and then followed some extra fat burning exercises? Would you want sugar? Would you lose extra weight? Would you crave fatty foods?
This was an experiment that I had always wanted to do and after a few weight gains and a 1.5 pound weight loss last week I wanted to give it a really good go!
It is rather hard from the fat burning list to come up with something other than fruit for breakfast (which never really fills me up) so I opt for a can of my favourite tinned tomatoes for breakfast. I love them and it is so filling and remember it was recently proved that there is more goodness in the tinned variety than fresh!
For lunch I am in the kitchen and prepare some butternut squash mash (fantastic alternative to potatoes) with some sticky turkey and using fat free yoghurt as the base for the sauce.
In the evening I opt for a bowl of homemade broccoli soup (which you can find here) and it never lets me down. Low in calories and fills a gap when you want to concentrate on fat burning foods.
I made too much soup yesterday so it is soup for breakfast today! There is no reason why it can’t be breakfast though I am sure Dominic finds it weird….
For lunch I made fish stew with some lovely cheap white fish, lots of vegetables and fat free yoghurt was the base of the sauce.
In the evening I used up the rest of the fish into fishcakes and I can’t believe I created carb free fishcakes! They were made with butternut squash instead of potatoes (tastes really nice) and we had them with some more soup.
Dominic loves the homemade butternut squash and leek soup and we all had a bowl each. And we are all getting used to these super fat burning meals.
Like the movie “run fat boy run” I have certainly hit my wall. That part way through a diet when you feel like you will never survive another hour unless you binge on milk chocolate.
Well I am certainty at that point and I want to escape my wall!
For breakfast I have celery and soon realise that I am still hungry with it being a negative calorie food (you burn more calories eating it then in the food itself) and snack on some red pepper while cooking lunch.
Well lunch is a disaster – I am so tired from babies, house moving and sleepless nights that I end up spicing it three times so all I can taste is way too much rosemary in a salmon dish. Talk about ruining the lovely flavour of salmon!
In the evening though it’s to one of my favourites that I haven’t had in absolutely ages and that is egg fried rice. Or to put it the non-carb way, shredded cauliflower with chicken, egg whites and lots of Chinese flavours, We also have a couple of chicken breast to go into it too!
On day 4 I have a very small breakfast. I send Dominic to the supermarket to buy me some nice fruit to make a fruit salad with. I am expecting Kiwi fruit, pineapple, berries etc and looking forward to making a nice breakfast fruit salad with some fat free yoghurt that is going to be super yummy.
Well he comes back with……..apples, oranges and bananas – and that is it! And then he complains that my dieting makes me moody! So I settle for an apple for breakfast and “make do” until lunchtime.
And wow lunch is truly amazing. If you have not had this you MUST try it. We had salmon, steamed veggies (broccoli and carrot) along with an oven baked butternut squash. Must be one of the healthiest lunches and is so tasty.
You chop a butternut squash in half and then bake it in the oven for about an hour with just some salt and pepper on top. Oh my god it is food heaven, oh and our apartment smells like a roast dinner has been cooked.
In the evening we all have different things. Dominic & Kyle have soup and sandwiches and I have soup and salad. The broccoli soup is back out and this goes very nicely with a prawn salad with homemade garlic sauce. I still can’t believe with today’s meals that I am on a fat burning mission!
Even if I don’t follow a fat burning week ever again, this lunch is going to be a regular thing because I am completely hooked!
Last night I was flagging a lot. I wanted chocolate. Dominic has bought loads and I am sure they will all have been eaten come Saturday when I can have some. I also want crisps. McDonalds. KFC. Just give me something high in fat and sugar and I would be happy.
But hey it’s near the end of the challenge and I can always have a McDonalds on the weekend – can’t I?
For breakfast I have an apple, mainly because I am super busy and can’t be bothered to make something that comes from the fat burning foods. Though my remaining avocado is staring at me and I am dying to have it!
Lunch = the exact same as yesterday. I am totally hooked on baked butternut squash and like yesterday lots of veggies and salmon along with it. If someone told me that these things together came in at less than 300 calories, tastes amazing and is all fat burning foods I would have told them that they were lying!
Okay so the results are in. My body has been put through five days of experimenting with fat burning foods. I have not consumed a single chocolate bar, I have put up with the fact that my boys went to KFC and that I didn’t and even worse I have gone a week without any breakfast cereal.
Well I step on the scales and I want to see at least 3 pounds weight loss for my trouble and it ends with a:
It’s not a half a stone in a week or anything similar. BUT I have enjoyed big portions of what I’ve eaten and when you take into account this was just five days, then I can’t complain.
I now weigh 12 stone 6 and this is the exact same weight I was at the end of July at 22 weeks pregnant so I am rather happy with this. I am also just a pound off hitting a four stone weight loss, or two pounds off my pre-pregnancy weight.
