I have been lucky enjoy to get a sample copy of Home Workout For Beginners. And today I am blogging about trying and testing their fitness plan for 7 days. The views expressed here are ours and the stories are ours.
Fitness is a word that quite frankly scares me! The thought of having to put on some trainers and go out for a run makes me want to reach for another packet of biscuits but I have come to a point in my life now where I want to get fit, not only to lose weight, but also to have a healthier and happier lifestyle.
To be honest I had absolutely no idea where to start on the fitness path. My family are not fitness fanatics, most of my friends only do the odd fitness class here and there and I am not a fan of going to the gym. For me the answers to fitness were going to have to be found while sat at my lap top and luckily for me I came across the Home Work out For Beginners from Swapfat4fit.com on Amazon.
What made this programme stand out for me was the fact that it is a six week plan, something I feel I can realistically aim for and because it is for beginners I felt like it would ease me in gently into the world of fitness.
From the very beginning I could tell that I had made the right purchase, I love the style of the writing which is super friendly and encouraging but is also professional, making me feel at ease but confident about the path ahead of me.
As with any new project I was keen to get started straight away and this was made even easier thanks to the simple guide to what I need to complete the course. There were no expensive pieces of equipment and I actually already had most of the stuff at home with me including the exercise ball and the exercise bands – perhaps the only thing I was missing was the focus and commitment that had been added to the list but this is what I am really hoping to change as soon as possible.
In the Home Workout For Beginners eBook there were a good few easy to print out motivational quotes about getting fit. Normally I am not keen on this sort of thing because it can appear a little corny but I printed them out anyway and put one in my bathroom on the mirror, one on the fridge and one on the back of my front door to help give me some motivation whenever I am in the house. Surprisingly, this actually made me feel really good and really does do the job of motivating me to start the fitness programme with enthusiasm.
The training on the Home Work out For Beginners from Swapfat4fit.com programme is broken down into two different parts; cardio and resistance and the purpose behind the training sessions is explained fully. For once I actually feel like I know what I am doing and why I need to be doing it which is a real boost and actually makes me feel like it is possible to complete this fitness challenge.
The first week I hoped would be an ease into the Home Workout For Beginners programme and being as it is called “Let’s get stated” I had hoped it wouldn’t be too challenging that I would be unable to complete it.
The plan states that I need to do five out of seven days cardio training. This sounds like a lot of training already but we will have to see how it goes I suppose. Luckily when I read on I see that this cardio exercise is actually walking for between half a mile and a mile each day and timing these sessions and making a note of it – even I think I can do that!
With the cardio sounding like a piece of cake (even for unfit and flabby me!) it was on to looking at the resistance part of the training, this is the part that I have learnt will help me strengthen and tone up.
I do not have to do as much resistance training as I have to do cardio and for resistance the sessions have to be for three out of the seven days of the week – this sounds possible.
The Home Workout For Beginners gives a list of seven different exercises to do and tells me that I need to do two sets of each for 12 reps.
My First 7 Days Of The Home Workout For Beginners
With my instructions before me it was time to see what the first week was going to hold!
I started the day with a one mile walk. I didn’t need to go this far but I feel really motivated to get going and once I had gone past half a mile I felt confident to keep on going. I also took my ipod with me which always helps J and I had a long walk near the beach and with the spectacular views I was soon motivated.
Time to start the resistance training today……
I managed to do all of the different exercises in my living room in the morning and then left it until the afternoon to do my mile walk.
To be honest some of the reps were difficult, especially the tricep kickbacks but I was surprised that I was able to complete them all.
I have never been very good at fitness exercises but I really liked these ones and soon got into it and its so much nicer doing it at home because there is no one watching me and seeing how bad I am compared to being in the gym.
My body is aching a bit today from the resistance training! The backs of my arms hurt a little and my thigh muscles do too but after my walk again today they actually felt a lot better.
This is normally at the point when I want to give up on exercise but I decide to give it another go and I will be back at it again!
I have woken up with far more energy than usual and do my walk first thing in the morning and follow it quickly with the resistance training. I feel set for the day and really motivated and for the first time I think I may actually be able to do this fitness programme!
I am not normally the type of person to get into the exercise thing. And to have one of those fitness buzzes from the exercise from the last few days is amazing!
I didn’t want to do my resistance training at the weekend so I am doing it again today – the thought of my family watching me doing the dips and curls makes me want to cringe – I am not confident enough yet to share this with them! The exercise goes well and I complete them a little easier than on the first day.
I was given a free yoga DVD recently and I remember trying it out with an audience and the response I received was “your not very flexible are you?” Well they were RIGHT but that is not the point is it?
Today I do my walk with the rest of the family around the park and it doesn’t even feel like I am training, it surprisingly just feels fun!
This is the benefit of living in a warm country – you don’t have to be stuck out in a gym and its warm weather the majority of the time. This means that many people enjoy walks around the park and on the beach in winter and this week if anything, has reminded me that I need to make more of an effort and enjoy my surroundings.
There is no exercise for me tomorrow, I am having a rest until Monday but excited to see what the next week will bring!
I can’t believe I managed to complete an entire week of a fitness plan, I have done more exercise in a single week than I have since I was at school!
The programme is really easy to use, simple to follow and genuinely achievable for real fitness beginners, I even managed to shave 20 seconds off my walk time in a single week showing that results really can happen!
This 86 page ebook is also very in depth and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it and going through it and I would recommend it to anyone that is at the start of their fitness journey.
