I often get asked what to do to lose weight if you are lazy. Sometimes a diet and a change of lifestyle seems like such a big deal and many people often give up their diet by day 5 and very rarely make it through to a week.
So what if you could make just one change in your diet or fitness that would bring in results but where you wouldn’t have to make much effort then what would it be?
Something that you could lose weight on a regular basis but at the same time enjoy your favourite foods and drinks and still go to parties and still be just as lazy.
Here is my lazy way……
It has been known to work time and time again and most of the time we have all got fat and put weight on because we became greedy and ate too much rather than because we just had a few off days.
Think of the holidays you’ve been on where you have eaten too much and this has resulted in weight gain. It has because everything has been to excess and your body has had a lot more calories than what it would normally have.
I did an experiment about eating less and Dominic used to follow hypnosis for weight loss and it is amazing how just eating less can be the answer to all your problems.
Take these examples of how we used to eat and how we eat now:
McDonalds – in the old days we could easily get through 2500 calories each from a meal there. I would order more than one burger, would have wraps, puddings, chicken nuggets and as many sides as I could handle. Now it is much more likely to be a meal deal and a Sundae. Much better for us and less than 1000 calories. We can still enjoy some fast food but not to excess.
We eat out of a bowl – a lot of the time portion size is down to our mind playing tricks on us. If we look at a large plate with not much on it we feel like we have been deprived. Yet put the same amount of food into a small bowl or onto a side plate and we will gladly eat the food and feel satisfied. This can easily half our food intake and make us feel full and happy with what we have eaten.
Don’t eat seconds – it is amazing how tempting it is to eat seconds. I say this as someone that is addicted to buffets and find it very difficult to say no. But if you do say no you’ll be amazed by how many calories you will chop off.
Eat slowly – I have a reputation in my family for being the slowest eater ever! We were out at a Chinese Buffet with family a couple of months back. I was delayed due to breastfeeding and changing Sofia. This meant that everyone had a half an hour head start on me. My mum said to everyone (in my absence) to slow down because I wasn’t here yet and eat like a snail. So I think everyone had been finished an hour when I was finally done!
But this can be a good thing; if you are eating slowly your body will tell you much sooner that you are full and you will eat less.
Eating less is simply an act of science. If you are eating 3000 calories a day and you chop a third of your food intake then you are suddenly losing 1000 calories a day and will lose weight. And just by changing to a smaller plate you could be talking the difference between current weight and losing weight.
Just think about it next time you want to go down the simple route.
