Hollywood star Kate Hudson is known for her enviable figure and now the “Almost famous” star has spoken out about her weight loss success which she credits as being due to her following an alkaline diet.
There are many different celebrity diets that are written about but the alkaline diet is one that has been gaining in popularity amongst celebrities keen to look their best at all times.
The alkaline diet involves only eating foods that are considered to be alkaline. Foods that you are allowed to eat include most vegetables and fruits, some nuts and seeds, soybeans and tofu and legumes. Any food that is acidic is off the menu and this includes dairy, eggs, meat and many types of grain. Processed food is also not allowed on the diet, including canned food or pre-packaged snacks.
Speaking to People magazine Kate Hudson said: “I live by a rule book of eating alkaline – no meat, no dairy, no gluten (and) I try to stay away from sugar – but I’ll cheat when I want to, since I’m a bit of a foodie.”
Sticking to such a strict diet all of the time is going to be unrealistic for most people so allowing yourself to cheat occasionally without feeling guilty is probably the only way to be able to encourage success on the alkaline diet.
As with many diets and eating plans, people have the best success if they don’t think of them as a diet but more of a lifestyle change and Kate Hudson is no different.
She told People magazine: “I try not to make it not so much about dieting, but rather everything in moderation.”
Kate Hudson also combines a fitness programme with her eating plan to achieve her amazing results and slim figure.
“While I try to keep my fitness regimen consistent, during awards season, I’m especially conscious of what I’ll be wearing and plan my workouts accordingly.”
She added: “If I plan to wear a sleeveless dress, I concentrate more on my arms during my workout the day before. If my outfit includes a short dress, I incorporate more leg moves and squats. If I feel like I need a little colour, I’ll get a natural spray tan. Not only does this give me a little extra coverage, but it also allows me to achieve the bronzed look I want without the sun damage.”
