Today I am on a quick three day diet and attempting to lose 10 pounds in 3 short days. I have never been much of a fan of these kind of diets and thought they cant possibly work so I have decided to put one of them to the test!
And downloaded a free ebook and followed the diet to the letter.
Once I look over the diet I am glad its only for three days as there is a lot of food on it that I really don’t care for. And dry toast is certainly one of those hell foods.
But what if you could really lose that amount of weight that fast? Surely it is worth it for three days worth of dieting?
So let’s put it to the test….
First of all the guy that wrote this diet (Tim Jones) ran for 30 minutes a day on the treadmill. Something that there is no way I can achieve with the level of fat I have to lose and the fact that my stamina is terrible. If I am being honest I can run for 90 seconds and then I can be mistaken for an Asthma sufferer during an attack.
So what I have decided to do instead is to have two hours of exercise a day while on this diet. That way I can roughly match the same amount of Calories that Tim has burnt. Then it is completely fair.
The only thing that goes against me is the fact that many that follow this diet do so after days of 2000 calories a day and my usual calories is more like 700-1000 a day so to lose 4 pounds would be a miracle.
Breakfast involves my biggest food allergy peanut butter and I am offered the alternative of another slice of dry toast which I decline. One slice of dry toast is enough!
We have our main meal at lunchtime in Portugal so for lunch I have chicken breast and tomatoes along with a small apple and half a banana. I substitute the ice cream due to lack of freezer room and no willpower for a nice fruit yoghurt instead.
In the evening I had a slice of toast along with some tuna and it was rather satisfying even if it is a small portion.
Weight After Day One = Weight Stayed The Same
I had a hard boiled egg for breakfast and I can’t remember the last time my day started with one of those! It must be at least five years if not longer. Dinner was hotdogs along with vegetables and another half a banana. In the evening it was my dream food of cheese and biscuits – Now I think I have found my ideal diet!
Yesterday the calorie restricting didn’t bother me at all but today I am feeling the pain. The headache is driving me nuts and I am burning as much as I am eating which is never good and I feel incredibly tired. I am just so glad that this is only three days long.
I am dreaming about the Chinese buffet we are going out for on Thursday and I cant stop thinking about sushi and prawn toast! Not to mention I want to eat the biggest bag of Maltesers that I can find.
That’s the problem I see with crash diets – you want to eat everything after you have been on them as you have deprived yourself so much. And even though I have willpower when I am on the diet when I have finished it is my problem area.
Weight After Day Two = Lost 1.5 Pounds
Total Weight Loss In 2 Days = 1.5 Pounds
It’s nice to say on the third day on a diet that I am also on my last day. Today looking at the plan is the most restricted of the three days and I feel starving just looking at the food list.
It took me what felt like a lifetime to drag myself out of bed this morning and head down the gym. I normally have so much energy and this diet is totally wiping me out.
I ended up sat watching television and counting the time until bedtime because when I wake up in the morning I can eat again! I can eat like a normal person and look forward to normal food once again.
Weight After Day Three = Lost 1 Pounds
Total Weight Loss In 3 Days = 2.5 Pounds
So its Thursday morning and I can be normal again. I have branflakes and skimmed milk with a chopped banana for breakfast and lunch is a Chinese buffet. I figured that I would want to eat everything so by having a Chinese buffet I can start to get everything that I have craved out of my system instead of spending the rest of the week binge eating.
I also started my period this morning and I always gain 3-4 pounds for the first couple of days of it. So what I have decided to do is carry on weighing myself everyday until Monday to get a better account of my weight loss as our body goes up and down throughout the week as we eat and drink different things.
So I am ashamed to say that I binged my way around the Chinese buffet and ate the amount I used to eat years ago. I have just worked out my calories and I am shocked by how fattening a few platefuls at the Chinese can actually be!
But tomorrow will be another day
Weight After Day Four = Gained 1.5 Pounds
Total Weight Loss In 4 Days = 1 Pound
Friday already and a round of tennis this morning makes me feel a little better for my bingeing courtesy of my Chinese yesterday. I have burned over 600 calories this morning and cant believe how much exercise I have done this week. I am still feeling really guilty about my bingeing yesterday. Though today is a new day and it is steamed salmon and rice for dinner.
We have a lovely evening of tapas and British television and celebrate that in the heat we can manage 70 minutes of constant tennis.
I have just had my hair done today and I know you are supposed to weight until you are at target so that you have those amazing before and after pictures but who cares I am three stone down and want to celebrate!
Weight After Day Five = Maintained 1 Pounds
Total Weight Loss In 5 Days = 1 Pound
It is the weekend and unlike many I am quite well behaved as far as food and drink is concerned on a Saturday and Sunday. Maybe it is because I am not a big drinker?
I have just been looking at my calories (as I still haven’t got over the Chinese Buffet guilt) and even with the mass Chinese calories my average daily calories (Monday to Friday) works out at 501.70 a day.
Though it feels like I have had much more than that!
Today we have fish pie with minted peas and it is delicious. I haven’t made one since Easter because I can’t stand the cooker on in summer with the kitchen getting so hot.
I am debating whether or not to exercise today as I have had more than 8 hours exercise this week but also feel like I should make the effort! Maybe I will go on the Wii Fit while my fish pie is in the oven?
Weight After Day Six = Gained 0.1 Kilos
Total Weight Loss In 6 Days = 1 Pound
Dominic mentioned how much slimmer I am looking after following this diet for 3 days and I am seriously not seeing it. All I have done over the last week is to lose a pound when I should have lost ten and had a huge Chinese buffet!
So I try a top on that I bought last Friday (three days before I went on this diet) and it is the perfect fit. And it didn’t fit me when I bought it and as I was in between sizes and losing weight quickly I bought it anyway.
So I measured myself and crazy as it sounds even though I have only lost a pathetic pound I have dropped over an inch from my waist and even though this diet didn’t give me the pound loss I wanted I have officially gone from a size 18 to a size 16. Something I have wanted to achieve for ages.
So today we are heading out to the outdoor pool where I can finally fit into my size 16 tankini and wear it with pride knowing that without this rapid diet I wouldn’t be able to fit into it. So I am one happy slimmer today.
Weight After Day Seven = Lost 0.4 Kilos
Total Weight Loss In 7 Days = 1.5 Pounds
I dropped from 750 calories a day to zero (after calories burned through exercise) and the author of the book dropped from 2500. So if you were on more calories than me you will lose more!
So for example if you have just been on holiday and consumed 3000 calories a day you will lose on average four times more than me giving you a 6 pound weight loss. I also had my period while on the diet which would add up to on average 2 pounds. So if you do the maths you can see how easy it is to lose up to 10 pounds.
I am really happy with the results and my BMI is now 28.6. I am just a simple pound away from a three stone weight loss and looking forward to getting even healthier.
