I now have a two week old baby and look even rougher than I did last week. Those sleepless nights are starting to affect me and turn me into a moving zombie. Actually….I should turn that phrase to we because as husband and wife we both look as bad as each other!
I look at the pictures that were taken of me after I had given birth and I looked better than I do now with two weeks of sleepless nights.
I also look at agreeing to do 15 minutes of exercise per day and wonder if I was mad. Or that the 45 minutes that I want to do later on will be even madder? Though with my first child he was sleeping through after six weeks and hopefully by that point I will be feeling much better.
I also keep looking down at my beautiful baby girl and wondering how something so cute and adorable could have such a loud scream?
My Fitness This Week
In my fitness world this week we have been getting ready for Christmas like most people are at the moment. Therefore because any free time is dedicated to my daughter I have mainly had her in my arms this week while we dance together to some of the best Christmas songs via my very scratched and barely working Christmas album.
Not sure what she thinks of them yet and can’t wait until the time when we can dance along to them and she actually understands what Christmas is!
I have very fond memories ten years ago of when the last remake of the Band Aid song came out, it was when our son was just three and all he ever remembered the words to was a couple of words from the chorus and you would hear just those words only and it was incredibly cute!
I have also been on the Wii Sports this week and even in my super tired state I have still managed to complete the fitness test and be told that I am younger than my 32 years – so that is progress!
My Diet This Week
My diet this week has been a bit naughty again but who said that diets needed to be restrictive?
I have been a naughty parent too! One evening we shared a full tin of Quality Street. It was super nice and it was all my idea with my post pregnancy sugar cravings. Dominic didn’t take much persuading though and then when Kyle asked about the empty tin I informed him it was my empty sewing box!
And I can’t believe he actually believed me!!!!!
Though I wish I had shared them with our teenager as he has this fantastic metabolism and with Quality Street chocolates coming in at 44 calories each, they are really not good!
On a plus side I have discovered a brand new love for a couple of things that are certainly aiding my weight loss. One is a soup machine that makes the snacking in between meals while breast feeding totally manageable.
Secondly I have fallen in love with fat free Greek yoghurt and I am using it in everything I can. This has also resulted in a drop in fat in my diet as I have hardly touched any butter since I came out of hospital.
The Results This Week
For this week I have lost one and a half pounds, three times what I lost last week:
This puts my total weight loss still to go at less than three and a half stone and I can see the end in sight. Plus if like me you have a decent amount of weight to lose then remember a pound a week weight loss is still 52 pounds a year so imagine if you have four stone to lose you could then be at target for next Christmas!
Or if you average 2 pounds a week that is your target weight by the summer for when the bikinis come out!
I actually read an article in the paper this week that said that the majority of pregnant women (75%) are heavier a year later than before they were pregnant. So just think how you are going to be one of the lucky quarter that does something about it.
As it stands at the moment I am two weeks post baby and I am five pounds heavier than I was before pregnancy and I am sure I can shift it in less than a year!
