So if you have been on Slimming World for longer than a day, then you would have heard about the Slimming World Speed Foods.
They are a big part of Slimming World and for those of you that are into Slimming World for weight loss (well that is all of us isn’t it?) then it can be a great option for losing weight and then keeping it off.
I personally have studied the Slimming World diet and what works best for me for weight loss and wanted to share my experience with you all. It might not work 100% the same for you, but I wanted to share my own personal experience.
Avoid the bad quality carbs
No matter how perfect I am if I have white potatoes, pasta or bread then it will impact my weight loss. They just make me feel rubbish and lethargic. Therefore if I stick to original/red days on Slimming World I can have much better weight loss results. In fact a week on full original days resulted in me losing 5 pounds in one week and this was the only change I made.
Lots of speed vegetables
I always say that someone that eats healthy will eat majority meat and vegetables. With this in mind it should be the case that when you buy your vegetables that when you fridge them when you get home that they take up a lot of room.
We look at the vegetables that we buy and we are often shocked that as a family of four that we can get through it all in a week.
Last week for example we bought the following:
- 2 bags of carrots
- 1 bag of onions
- 1 pumpkin
- 1 butternut squash
- 4 courgettes
- 1 cabbage
- 3 cauliflowers
- 6 tomatoes
- 1 cucumber
- 3 sweet potatoes
- 3 leeks
And it was all gone. Plus I am not a vegetarian so this was used in a lot of dishes with our favourite meat and fish.
Aim to make sure you’re getting lots of speed vegetables in your diet and that 75% of all the food that you eat is speed food. This way you can really make a difference to your weight loss.
Just speed foods
I did an experiment a few years ago on this blog when I just ate speed foods for six days. I had gone into a rut with my weight loss and wanted a quick weight loss. What I didn’t expect was to lose 6 pounds in 6 days. I mean wow this is amazing!!!!

Swap your syns for fruit
For one week swap any Syns you’d normally have for fruit. Then if you would normally have a glass of wine have a pear instead. This can then give your body a kick start for weight loss. I do this every now and again mainly because my body gets used to a certain amount of calories so a temporary reduction like this can be perfect.
Out of all the suggestions above, I would defiently say that the best long term results have been from red original days. So give up your potatoes and pasta for a month and see how you get along!
