I love blogging and when people ask me what I do for a living I am very proud to say that I am a blogger.
But then when I go past this and name my niche it gets a bit more complicated.
After all what would I consider myself to me blogging about?
- Weight loss?
- Family Lifestyle?
- Healthy Eating?
And then I always end up back at food. After all, we are all over weight and unhappy with our appearance because of our addiction to food. Food rules our lives and that is all we are talking about.
Whether we are following clean eating, fat burning foods, specific diets like Slimming World, Weight Watchers or Paleo, or even joining the gym to work off our McDonalds at the local gym.
It always comes back to food, no matter how you mix it up with everything you have going on via your blog.
For example I can’t remember the last time I wrote a blog post on my weight loss blog that was not about food. In the last week I have talked about McDonalds, fat burning foods, treat days on a diet and so on.
I have always associated food sites to be just recipe led. You would have the owners posting 3-4 recipes a week and that would be the lot for the website. And as such traffic would be a lot higher than a traditional diet site and would always have a lower income level.
This is because people are there to see images of food and then get out of there, so it’s much harder to make a good profit.
On the other hand as a weight loss blogger come food blogger, you have the benefit of people wanting to stay on your site a lot longer, hence you’ll make more money per customer.
I like the idea of earning money as a food blogger, but with a healthy look at it. I can make more money and at the same time I can eat a lot more Big Mac’s than the average food blogger!
The question I ask you though, is what type of blogger do you consider yourself to be?
