Welcome to the Weight Loss Bloggers income report for April 2015.
Where did April go? I just can’t believe that I am back here again, reporting on the month of April. For us every month is a busy month. Though we do try and have a break in the summer when Kyle is off from school for the summer. So right now, in between super busy days I am dreaming about summer beach days, trips to the park, waterparks and such like.
But it is going to be a while until I am there and with delivery of my white boards (I have two because one just isn’t enough). I have plenty of ebooks to promote, blog posts to promote, lots of clients to coach and new ebooks to complete.
The truth is I have never actually promoted an ebook before, I would just blast it to my list, mention it on my blog and promote on social media and that was always enough. But this time I plan on doing things differently and actually promoting properly.
It will also be interesting to see how many sales I get from a promoted ebook rather than from my regular ones!!!!

More information on our revenue & profit during April 2015:
This month has been a little better than what it was last month, but overall still not great. The reason for this is because something always seems to come up at the moment that takes me away from generating a further income on the blog.
Moving house is now out of the way, but there is always other things that I have to consider. For example we are working hard on a new design for My Weight Loss Dream and if you are reading this you’ll notice, because Weight Loss Bloggers is half way there on a new design and the rest of the site isn’t! We have also been searching for new members of our virtual team (you can read about it here) and this can be rather time consuming.
On another note, we are starting to get ready for promotion; it’s just been a case of fitting it in and then having virtual assistants helping us with it.
Our New Ebooks
We have finally got our new pregnancy ebooks live on the Kindle and will be making a few small adjustments to them and then things will be all go. We have decided to start with just selling them on the Kindle, mainly because we don’t have time to put a Clickbank sales funnel together right now and it makes an excellent alternative because we can use the KDP select for the time being.
Time Doctor Disaster
Now you’ll also see that my time doctor fees are a lot higher this month. Well this has been a very harsh lesson in timewasters when hiring outsourcers. With time doctor you pay a set $9.99 a month for each member of your team based on the team you have in place on the bill date of the 15th of the month. I had hired three new assistants two days before this and of course ended up getting charged for them, well by the 16th they had been removed from my team for not working properly. So I ended up paying $29.97 for nothing!
Making Improvements Among My Income Streams
May is my month for reflecting and looking back over what we have and improving on it, without increasing the traffic, but looking at the multiple income streams that we have running on My Weight Loss Dream.
This is what we are doing this month to change things:
We are giving Media.net a second chance – there is a serious lack of CPM options available to us and they offered to improve things so we are giving them a second chance!
We are improving our Kindle listings – we have about 3-4 of our 37 ebooks that feel like one hit wonders that sell everyday and everything else sells a couple of copies a month. We want to put an end to this. Therefore we are working on improving our categories and tags on the Kindle to see what a difference it makes. We will then go in and also edit our descriptions. At the same time we will leave the ones that are selling as they are and then see how things panned out. The thing is we have nothing to lose and it will be good to see how we can bring our dead doughnuts to life!
More income streams – we are looking for more Adsense alternatives (you’ll notice we are currently running infolinks), places similar to buysellads.com and places to sell sponsored reviews and then it will give us the opportunity to increase our advertising revenue. We are also in the middle of a theme change (still on Thesis just a different skin) and we want to use our new advertising areas to the best of our ability.
More information on our traffic during April 2015:
The traffic has been about average this month, especially considering we have not had any promotions going on at the moment and its just based on blogging and sharing!
As you can see below:
This then resulted in the following:
And considering I have never really promoted anything (well beyond blogging and social media) it is amazing to say that there was more than 70,000 unique visitors to My Weight Loss Dream during April.
And thank you for stopping by and being part of my May visitors 🙂
What I do find interesting is Pinterest traffic. It has just always been there and every day I have 1 in 3 of every visitor comes from Pinterest.
And the true secret to Pinterest traffic?
Post good/great content regularly – that is literally all you have to do! That is all you have to do, because the regular Pinterest users hang around on blogs looking for things that they want to pin and they could be pinning your content.
Take this one for example:
This has been bringing me traffic for a while and brought me 600 unique visitors just in April from ONE post!
And other people have also repinned this same post and many would consider this to be a viral post on Pinterest. The post itself wasn’t a real effort to put together on the blog and to be honest you can never really predict what will go viral on Pinterest you just have to keep working at it until a few posts have.
The RPM for My Weight Loss Dream was about average for April 2015. It worked out at $31.64 for every 1000 impressions that hit this blog.
I love improving a RPM as that shows that you can have an increase in your income without actually improving your traffic, you can have a poor traffic month and still make money and in my mind that is fantastic.
Next will be more of the same. We have our brand new podcasting gear and we are super excited about getting started with it.
Then we also plan to expand on the places where we sell our ebooks. We feature already on the likes of Apple & Kindle but there are so much more out there like these. It seems such a waste not to be part of these other places that offer promotion as part of their packages.
We also plan to work more with re-purposed content. We have already started putting our slides on the slide share sites and now we are looking at even more places and will keep you up to date with how it is going with those.
