Welcome to the income report at Weight Loss Bloggers for June 2015 and it’s a pleasure to share what we do on our blog with YOU – our readers.
We also can’t believe that it has been 18 months now since we shared our very first income report with you in January of 2014. One thing we have found is that even though our income from this niche site is not making six months it is as regular as clockwork and shows that you can have a steady passive and non-passive income from a blog.
At the moment we are full of changes – we are in the middle of a new design (do you like it so far?) and we are also changing a lot of our old pages and running lots of different promotions and new products.
It is an exciting time for us and we are so glad that you are following our journey with us and we hope that your own journey is going well too.
But I am sure you just want to know about our income so let’s get on with it 🙂

More information on our revenue & profit during June 2015:
This month has certainly been an improvement on last month as far as profit has been concerned. However the revenue hasn’t actually been that different. What you often find with a lot of businesses is that you have certain months of the year when a lot of yearly bills are due and this can make the profit seem very low, yet over the year it levels itself out.
Working with brands
You will notice a brand new addition to this months income reports and that is one that will be staying for the near future and it is……. free physical products.
One of the things that as bloggers we want is freebies, brands love to send us them because they want us to use their products and write about it.
Many of them are great products that you could use yourself and will make great additions to your household. At the same time its hard work partnering with brands so you have to ask yourself whether or not it is worth it or something that you want to do.
Personally for us, it comes down to what the brand is like to work with as they are all different. But during June we have managed to secure 4 partnerships and received goods to the value of over $500 so we can’t complain 🙂
I am also putting together some experiments of working with brands and the best vs worst places to find brands and will be touch in a later post to talk about it.
Increasing our income streams
We have also been working on increasing our income streams and as a result we are now on Draft2Digital, Lulu (well we are still waiting on some changes for this site), Smashwords and Google Play. I must admit, we were most excited about Google Play as it is the biggest contender for the Kindle and we were curious as to what results we would get.
So considering we sold 100 ebooks on the Kindle over the month and 25 on Google, I thought it was a great first month.
It took about 4 hours to get all the ebooks set up on Google and it is fantastic to say that for an extra four hours or so work, we have increased our Kindle income by nearly 25%.
We have also noticed that our ebooks (without any promotion by us) has reached $334.66, so I am sure it will be even better when we finally get around to promoting them. But right now other more pressing things have got in the way.
We have our videos that we have just started; we have our podcasting gear to get our heads around and we also have the rest of our old pages to transfer over from html to WordPress. Though we are steadily working through some promotional methods, it is just not at the rate that we want to work at!
More information on our traffic during June 2015:
Our promotion methods haven’t changed, we haven’t lost any SEO positions and we probably have a few more referral sites linking into us, but if you look below you will see that we have had another traffic drop:
I am sure you want to know why, especially when you see a month by month account below:
Well its simple, the weight loss niche is about enjoying yourself in the summer. No one wants to know about how to diet in the summer months, yet at the start and end of the year it is always super busy.
And as a diet blogger you have to accept this. However what is good is that diet bloggers and product owners know this and are therefore more likely to need advertising in the summer months than in January.
We did have a few days of very bad traffic though and this was down to a bad advertising network we were using that had damaged our website and you can read all about it here. Looking at the figures we would have matched the previous months traffic if it wasn’t for this. So you really learn from it 😉
Our RPM for the month of June was $30.40. This is an amazing amount and we can’t wait to bring in more of the same. I have always wanted to achieve a RPM on my sites of between $15-$35 so it’ nice that this one is in the top end of what we wanted.
I notice a lot of high traffic niche sites tend to have a very low RPM and with a little effort could really increase their income.
For us we are just so busy at the moment and simply don’t have the time for everything. We were hoping to have got on to our new promotional methods by now, but with a new site design (hope you like it so far) and starting with Podcasting, videos and new products it’ hard to fit everything in.
Though we expect by the new year for things to have calmed down a bit.
I am also returning MWLD to what made it successful at its start which was the diet “Slimming World” so expect a few small changes if you are a follower of the blog.
