Welcome to Weight Loss Bloggers Latest Income Report.
Hello it is Samantha here again with a brand new income report this time for November of 2015. This will also probably be the last one that I write or I might manage to squeeze one more in, to finish off the year.
My Weight Loss Dream is currently for sale and as you know we have lost the weight, we have got fit and the end is now in sight. We were hoping that everything was done and dusted by now but we had a very bad experience attempting to sell it with Empire Flippers (please see further down) and it is now (as you read this) up for sale on Flippa. Realistically I should have just listed it for sale on Flippa in the first place but Empire Flippers caught my eye and I was looking for an easy hands free option. But we live and learn don’t we?
On another note it is crazy that this blog is now three years old. It has been our go to place to help us with our weight loss and at the same time it has made us six figures. This shows that you can make money from your hobby or your own personal experiences so if that is YOU remember you can DO IT TOO.
But I am sure you want to know what we made in November and what traffic we had. So here goes….

More information on our revenue & profit during November 2015:
This was a month when we went all out for the free products. We are planning (after the sale of My Weight Loss Dream) to build up our own food blog as the next stage in our blogging career.
Therefore we wanted products that we can base our reviews and recipes around and decided the best thing to do was promote them over two sites and then it gives us a good starting point.
We were actually amazed by the amazing things we had sent, as you’d be surprised if you ask what PR companies will send your way.
We have a kebab machine (for kebab skewers), an ice cream machine, a new slow cooker, casserole dishes, new pans and a whole variety of other things. They are all given to us for free and all worth quite a bit of money. We also have several for our new site too.
Of course these products don’t pay the mortgage but selling them and affiliating them does so I am really happy about that.
Also from an income point of view it is amazing to see that Content.ad has been bigger than Adsense this month. It is a simple similar things on the web style ad unit like you can see in action below:
(please do screenshot showing content ad on a post)
And we have fewer units for this than we do for Adsense so I really can’t complain about it.
With our coaching you’ll notice it is missing from this report. This is because we have decided not to feature it anymore. We decided that as a newbie to blogging that coaching others to run weight loss blogs just wouldn’t happen and is basically an unrealistic part of it.
Also when you look at our Draft2Digital income I advise that you add 40% to it. At the beginning of each month I check the figures but it often takes Apple and their Ibookstore ages before they get around to adding their figures so these amounts are often pre-Apple. Then when you look that the biggest channel run by Draft2Digital is Apple then you can understand why it is so low.
My main objective with Caveman Diet Blog was to A) embrace the Paleo lifestyle and B) to bring a new micro niche blog to profit – both of which I have now achieved and this feels amazing. It is now also up for sale as a quick cash injection site.
Traffic During November & Two Lots Of Stats
Firstly, here is the traffic from Caveman Diet Blog:
As you can see from the traffic above, it is not huge but considering how much it is making to the actual traffic, I really don’t feel like I can complain. I love the fact that the social media and search engine traffic is coming along nicely without needing to put money into the traffic.
Here is the traffic for My Weight Loss Dream:
The traffic at My Weight Loss Dream is nice and steady like it always is. What I love most is that it ranks very quickly for SEO and I can just add fresh new content and know that it can steadily increase the traffic.
I also love how easily shared our content is on social media and this has resulted in a lot of shares that have then come on to help with SEO positions.
It also means that whoever comes on to buy My Weight Loss Dream could just maintain the website and still generate a great income from it.
Selling a website (what has happened so far)
So after last months income report I was well on the way (or so I thought) to selling My Weight Loss Dream. Then Empire Flippers showed up in my feed on Facebook and I thought using a broker would be a better option.
I have some other bigger sites to sell and thought that I would test the waters with them for My Weight Loss Dream. For a site like this it can be sometimes hard to sell it on Flippa. Of course it would sell, but Flippa is often associated with the low quality zero income and zero traffic sites and there is no always enough paying customers on there.
Plus what I have always hated about Flippa is the stupid questions that you get asked. The same questions where the answer is in the listing if they bothered to read it and of course Flippa has a lot of none paying bidders, just like what you have on eBay.
So I decided to go at it from the website brokers side and use Empire Flippers. They were only $47 more than Flippa for what was assumed was a premium service. You gave them your site details, showed off income proof, traffic proof and website proof. Then it was supposed to be passed on to their listing guru to be listed and then would eventually sell.
What attracted me most, was the low fee to list a follow up site and their success rate in selling so I was really pleased about the thought of that as over the years it would save me thousands of dollars.
At first it seemed fine and I paid my money and gave them the info. Then I would passed onto a Filipino Virtual Assistant that goes by the name of Joanne. She was really not very efficient and struggled with the basic principles of what she was doing. She was there to gather proof of income (among other things) but didn’t seem to know much at all about what internet businesses are about.
For example she listed our Kindle income twice – both as KDP (stands for Kindle Direct Publishing) and as KDP. The figures were identical and even the listings manager didn’t notice. And I left it on their reports until the last minute just so that I can see if anyone was paying attention to detail but it seemed they weren’t.
Secondly she didn’t seem to know how to open attachments; she was querying things that even a newbie to internet marketing would know. And she didn’t seem very internet savvy, or internet marketing savvy. For example she asked for Google Analytics email add on so that she could check the traffic. When she did she couldn’t work out how to get the data and we had to go and get it for her.
After several weeks she finally had all the data and it was passed onto their listing manager. I can’t remember exactly how long the first process took but I remember Dominic saying that it would have sold by now on Flippa!
I was expecting this well crafted listing like the kind I put together when I list on Flippa. But in reality I ended up with a very basic one, of a similar quality of one that I could have had made if I outsourced the job to one of my writers. It missed off a lot of vital parts of the business, disclosed things that was not supposed to be available until later, listed it as an Amazon site when this is in fact our lowest income source and I generally was disgusted by the quality of it.
But I thought I will give them a chance after all they do have an incredibly high sales rate. A few weeks later they informed me that they were removing my listing because I had not updated them with monthly sales figures. Well until they are available this is rather impossible!!!!
And it was at this point that I said I’d had enough and asked for a refund. I didn’t get very far so I put in a refund request with Paypal and they returned my funds.
But the nail in the coffin came the day after my refund. I got an email from the boss of Empire Flippers. It accused me of racism towards their Filipino Virtual Assistant because I was not happy with her work and blackmailed me if I talked.
I couldn’t believe it especially considering I am 100% pro Filipino virtual assistants and currently have three of them on my team right now. I love them and hire them because they are amazing. I have also written many ebooks over the years and they are a very big part of my business.
But what I had a problem with is having them in a role that was above their skill set. My virtual assistants are not front of house and focus on the design and virtual side of things. They never answer our emails or are in charge of important things such as people’s websites.
I think the point is that you are expecting a premium service and from their own income report they openly admit that they put more effort into the bigger sites and sites like ours are not worth much to them.
I had decided not to say anything and leave it and move on. I had learnt my lesson to not use Empire Flippers and had got a refund and could now list on Flippa but then I went to see if my listing had been taken down.
And instead of it saying listing closed it said “Sold” as you can see below they are claiming it has been sold:
Now this was the nail in the coffin and I can’t believe they have listed our site as sold when they failed us on so many levels.
I have now washed my hands of them and I just wish they had never shown up in my Facebook feed. I have learnt the hard way and considering it is now about 2 months since I first signed up with Empire Flippers it will be nice when the site is finally sold.
