All I heard from Dominic last week when I was following my own DIY 7 day detox diet was that I was going to put it all back on the week after, plus some extra weight that I didn’t have before.
I can totally agree with him when it comes to several detox diets and from those where you are feeling really deprived. But what I have found with my own detox diet is because I am replacing two meals I never had a single craving all week.
Of course you miss things, but after a while you forget all about them and move onto something else!
But before I complete my next weight loss challenge next week, I wanted to see how much weight would be gained if you carried out some light exercise (the equivalent of 20 minutes a day) and just by eating three meals a day without snacking along with attempting to keep sugars and fats low in your consumption.
I didn’t plan to go ultra strict either with fattening meals planned for both Friday and Sunday. So I am dying to see what an impact this is going to have on my weight loss. I have lost 9.5 pounds over two weeks with two different detoxes so let’s get started and see what happened…..
It is Friday and as my planned treat for the week I head to my local burger bar. Normally I would have a double burger with chips, onion rings, sauce, full sugar drink followed by a large ice cream. I have downgraded on this but I haven’t been a saint either.
I go for a cheese and ham toastie (OMG no burger I must be ill!) and share it with Dominic as it’s too big. I also have chips, onion rings, sauce, a diet drink and a small ice cream.
I have been craving one of these ice creams for ages as they are on the banned food list in pregnancy and its one more thing that I have managed to have again!
Saturday night and Dominic is making some of his super tasty homemade burgers cooked in fat free spray and served with some chips. I love burger and chips and this proves that you can have a healthy version if you want to! Though, I do have a little mayonnaise with them and some cheese as we can’t all be perfect can we?
I have also returned to having porridge for breakfast and find that it fills me up and stops me from snacking.
I have been looking at breastfeeding calories and I am amazed by how many I am burning per day. It actually works out at 300 or 2100 a week. In a week that’s the same as me going a day and a half without any food or 5 gym workouts a week. No wonder people credit it in getting their figure back.
The lowest dieticians recommend a breastfeeding mother to drop calories to is 1200, but with breastfeeding that’s like being on 900 a day!
Now for the super treat of the week and that’s the ultra fattening Sunday lunch. I am cooking fish pie with a white sauce and short crust pastry. This is then made a bit healthier with new potatoes and garden peas.
I love fish pie and we haven’t had any at all this winter and it will make a nice change!
It is Monday and I make it through the weekend without bingeing. There is always this urge to binge when you deprive yourself of the things that you love or enter into an extreme diet. But so far so good!!!
I also notice that we are now out of fat free cooking spray so I have to give up my chips at lunch and just have chicken and vegetables. My plate is screaming out for some carbs.
I am now on day 5 and dying to experiment with another diet theory and can’t believe I have to wait until next week until I do!
I have been watching a lot of weight loss television programmes of late as you can see here and it’s had me full of ideas for my weight loss this year. Next weeks plan is going to be a very interesting one – but for this week its all about not bingeing and not overeating. Though I want to!!!!
Well I said healthy eating – can deep fried chips be considered as healthy eating? We headed out for lunch today and I had some duck rice along with some chips. Then I washed it down with a hot chocolate and chocolate cake.
I can’t believe I have eaten out twice in one week!!!!
After yesterday and two naughty trips out in one week, I thought I better behave myself today!
For breakfast it is porridge, lunch is salmon with vegetables and new potatoes and dinner is cheese toasties. Really not a bright idea having all these carbs before morning weigh in but I just want some!!!!
In fact they are so addictive that Dominic & Kyle decide to opt for some too and we had a cheese toastie feast.
Well the results were in – and the question is could I make it a week after detox and just gain minimum weight without putting it all back on?
Well here are the results:
I ended up gaining just 0.2 kilos and when rounded up this puts my weight at a half a pound weight gain. I have been naughty over the last 7 days. I have eaten at a burger bar (though I did eat a toastie instead of a burger) and I went out for lunch with Dominic & Sofia so to say that I have JUST put on half a pound is rather impressive in my world!
It shows that if you don’t over eat after a detox you can nearly maintain without putting every pound on, plus some more.
Next week I will be doing another experiment so watch this space to see what happens.
