As a UK blogger I have always been fascinated with the weight loss and fitness camps that are on offer all around the world now, especially those in Las Vegas.
Even though the UK has a massive obesity problem it has always been a bit slow to the idea of residential care and that is why I decided to write more about them today.
Going on a diet can help you to lose weight but changing your lifestyle is the only way to sustain weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, which is why a Fitness and Weight Loss Camp offers real results that last a lifetime.
Anyone who has tried to lose weight in the past will know that it is rarely as simple as eating less and exercising more to get the body we always dreamed of. There are many reasons why we put on weight and even more for why we find it hard to lose weight which means that the only real way to tackle weight loss is with a personalised plan.
There simply is no one size fits all solution out there.
I am a huge fan of a lifestyle change and have found that many of the weight loss camps in my home area of the Algarve that specialise in celebrities and the local population tend to be more interested in quick results, rather than long term substainable lifestyle changes.
That is why when this fitness camp in Las Vegas was featured on Dr Christian’s Supersize Vs Superskinny I became intrigued.
Here is a clip from the show
Debra Stefan (who features in the show) knows that not only is everyone different, she also is well aware that becoming overweight doesn’t happen overnight and that while it is possible to get quick results with weight loss, to have lasting results you need to change your entire lifestyle.
Attending a residential weight loss camp for 30 days may seem like a drastic step to take for anyone looking to lose weight but the best way to beak bad habits is to remove yourself from the situations that help to facilitate them and the only way to truly do that is to be thrown into the unknown.
A weight loss camp is not just something that you see on television, it is a real solution for real people who are dedicated to losing weight and changing their lives for the better.
Taking a trip out to Las Vegas shows a level of dedication to losing weight that is so much higher than signing up with a weight loss club or buying a book or DVD to help with fitness and nutrition. This level of dedication allows a person to arrive at the weight loss camp in Las Vegas with a level of determination to succeed that Debra is then able to harness into weight loss success.
And the benefits of a residential weight loss camp become evident very quickly, I remember a few years ago reading about a British girl that had lost over 200 pounds at a residential camp in America and how much weight she lost and how she kept it off.
What makes me fall in love with them most is that anyone can lose weight, and you just have to look through diet magazines to be taken in with this. But in diet magazines they never show pictures of people ten years down the line, or even five years later, because very few of them have actually kept it off.
However, instead of a weight loss plan (that works great in the short term) by attending a weight loss and fitness camp on a longer stint (such as a month) you end up in a position to change your diet and discover a new love for fitness without slipping back in my old ways.
This is something that I particularly relate to, because I have found that through diets like Slimming World that I forget to food optimise in the long term and I am too focused on the here and now rather than the future me. Something that over the last few years I have learnt. After all, if we can’t learn from our mistakes then we have no future do we?
For anyone overweight it is hard to imagine a life without being on a diet. Most people fall into the vicious circle of losing weight through a plan then slipping back into old ways and piling on the pounds again leading to another diet. Imagine a life without dieting because the knowledge that is learned at a residential weight loss camp as it can leave a person with an entirely new outlook to food and exercise leading to an end to diets and the start of a new healthy lifestyle instead.
Being immersed in a weight loss camp where the focus is on the individual is a huge benefit for anyone wanting to lose weight. Personalised exercise and eating plans are just part of the package because while we all can be told what we should be doing it takes that extra push and boost to see real results.
Being located in somewhere sunny like Las Vegas benefit from fantastic weather. Everyone feels happier when the sun is shining and this is because it stimulates the release of our “happy” hormones. For example this morning I was going for my usual power walk around the park and it amazes me with the sun on my back how full of happiness I feel and if anything should get you motivated it is the sunshine.
